Бизнесмен, филантроп. В течение 35 лет работал в компании "Сирс, Роубак энд Ко." [Sears, Roebuck and Co.] (в 1910-25 - ее президент), которая при нем стала крупнейшей компанией, специализирующейся на торговле по почте [mail order company]. Во время первой мировой войны занимал важные государственные посты, связанные со снабжением вооруженных сил. Отдал на благотворительные цели около 63 млн. долларов. Создал Фонд Джулиуса Розенвалда [Julius Rosenwald Fund] (1917-48), содействовавший образованию афро-американцев [Afro-Americans] (было построено более 5 тыс. школ в южных штатах), помогал евреям-иммигрантам, оказывал помощь детям в европейских странах после войны, вложил значительные средства в развитие Чикагского университета [Chicago, University of]
